If you are looking for a nature getaway amongst the tall trees and fresh air then Olinda is the place. The Location of Olinda Country Cottages is just 1 hour from Melbourne, walking distance to local café’s and small supermarket, a great antique/vintage shop  and several restaurants. We are walking distance to Olinda village with all its feature attractions too. Easily accessible by train and then bus from city.   The Rhododendron gardens are a  15 min walk. Puffing Billy train is just 10 minuntes by car. There are many amazing nature walks and if you are keen you can spot our wonderful lyerbirds early mornings or later afternoons. That's not to mention wallabies wombats and a myriad of birds.  We are 30-40 minutes from the Yarra Valley and all its attractions wineries etc too.You can even make it to the penguin parade at Phillip Island in 1.5 hours. Healsville sanctuary is less than 1 hour by car. We are well located if you don't have a car as the bus stops 300 meters from our door.   GPS Use If using a GPS to find the location of Olinda Country Cottages and coming via The Basin, beware driving along the Olinda Basin Rd, it is a dangerous windy dirt road. The safest option in The Basin is to take Mountain Hwy. Do not let it take you via Old Coach Rd, this is now a walking track and is a dead end. Public Transport The 688 bus stop is 80m from the property which takes you to either Croydon Railway Station (located on the Lilydale line - 30 min journey) or Upper Ferntree Gully Railway Station (Located on the Belgrave line - 20 min journey). Here the trains take approximately 1 hour to reach the city. Bus and train timetables can be accessed from Public Transport Victoria's website. New to the area? For those new to the area be aware that (Olinda) in the Dandenong Ranges is nowhere near the suburb of Dandenong. Do not head out that way from the airport. Mt Dandenong and Dandenong city are about 40 kilometres apart. If coming from Melbourne's CBD take either the M1 freeway and exit at Ferntree Gully rd or via the Eastern freeway exit at Burwood Hwy.
